National Center for Children and Families, Ektron Implementation

NCCF envisions a society in which children, youth, and families live in sustained, supportive communities, which reinforce the integrity and unity of the family. The vision will be realized through:

  • Connecting vulnerable children and families with communities that effectively promote the integration of physical, spiritual, economic, and emotional health.
  • Empowering children and families to be self-sufficient, to give back, and to learn to help others in the process.
  • Providing an array of services and support, in collaboration with partners who share a similar vision and values, which engender personal growth for the individual, the family, and the community.
  • Advocating for services which are proactive, community-based, preventive, quality, comprehensive, consistent, and address with respect for diversity, the current needs of the community, its children, youth, and families.

Original Website environment:
NCCF had a static website which was without content management, e-commerce, or a visually compelling user experience that sent a message of caring to their target audience and donors. The hosting environment was unstable and any available functionality was unreliable.

Redesigned/Developed Environment:
Hodgson created a user experience which sent a message of caring and positioned NCCF, through the images and content, as the historic and profoundly philanthropic organization it is. Hodgson implemented the Ektron CMS allowing content providers the ability to update events and activities on the website and enabled an e-commerce function allowing users to donate directly through the website.

In addition, Hodgson implemented the Ektron Web 2.0 Blogs/Forums and Document Management allowing NCCF board members to discuss business in a secure online environment and share documents before and after meetings.

Hodgson utilized a Project Manager, a DBA, a Designer, Developers and a QA/QC resource over a period of three months to redesign and develop and relocate the original website to new hosted server environment.
