Clarke University (Formerly Clarke College)

About Clarke University
Rooted in its Catholic mission, Clarke University of Dubuque, Iowa has moved into the 21st century with an impressive tradition of excellence in education. Established in 1843, the university is named for Mary Frances Clarke, who founded a congregation of religious women, the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVMs).

Throughout its growth and change, Clarke University has been “progressive with the times.” As new programs have developed, Clarke has continued to challenge and support students, who are the heart of the institution, in their intellectual and personal growth. In an institution known for its long tradition of excellence in education, students, faculty, and staff work together to maintain and strengthen that heritage.

The Challenge
Clarke had already implemented the Ektron content management system, when their administrators contacted Hodgson to assist them with redesigning and re-skinning their site (www.clarke.edu). In addition, there were numerous maintenance issues with which they required help, including the following tasks: updating the sidebar on the site, addressing issues with the Ektron search feature, updating the sitemap, configuring Google Analytics, inserting custom code into existing content and configuring Ektron breadcrumbs.

The Solution
After migrating the Clarke site to a development environment, Hodgson successfully completed the redesign and re-skinning portion of the project. In order to address the aforementioned additional pain points and required updates, Clarke engaged Hodgson’s Webmaster Services Team, which continues to conduct maintenance on their Ektron site today.
